What the 50s Housewife Knew

I’ve been reading a lot lately about 50’s era housewives, including a couple of blogs that feature modern women who take on living as though they were still in that era: creating elaborate dinners that often feature gelatin and liver, getting dressed up complete with lipstick before they greet their husband’s good morning, and boiling laundry at the kitchen sink. While I am not quite ready to give up my modern appliances or attitude, there is one thing that I do appreciate about that time period. Everything got used and only disposed of when absolutely necessary. For example, a 50’s … Continue reading

Lose 5 Pounds with Yoplait!

I only eat one kind of brand of yogurt. I walk through the dairy aisle of my store and pass up half a dozen brands to get to my favorite. A few times a good sale caught my wandering eye and I cheated on my favorite brand with another. Each time I was disappointed and begged forgiveness to the only yogurt for me. All other yogurts are runny, have boring flavors or have that distinct yogurty taste I dislike. Are you suggesting that I really don’t like yogurt? I’ve considered that myself many times. Yet, my Yoplait never disappoints in … Continue reading

However, there is truth in becoming what you eat. If you eat unhealthy foods you will undoubtedly become an unhealthy person. This line of logic is clear to most yet we do not always apply it to our lives. We are human sometimes give in to the things we crave to satisfy our flesh nature. I have a hard time respecting myself in the morning after eating … Continue reading

We then read about “Restoree,” which was author Anne McCaffrey’s first published novel. “Ashley’s Unforgettable Summer” is a cute children’s picture book about a girl who has a baby chimp for a pet, and “Coffee Rings” by Yvonne Lehman is a Christian women’s fiction novel about the accidental … Continue reading
