February is marked by the season of Valentine's Day, making sale priced chocolates and other sweets widely available. Try hitting the stores on the day after Valentines Day to pick up bargain sweets that can be stored or frozen for later use. My favorite chocolates are dark chocolates, so I stock up. Yum. There are a lot of things you can do with the bounty of candy. For ideas, you can read the blog about using clearance Christmas Candy. Those tips can easily be applied to your clearance Valentine's Day candy. Jewelry and fragrance are other items that are on sale in February. So, if you have a favorite scent or need new earrings, shop now. In fact, one of our local jewelry stores offers a once a year coupon for $100 off of an item, and there is no minimum purchase! We get this valuable coupon by simply having asked to be on the mailing list. Bathing suits, resort wear and travel wear all start going on sale, as stores cater to the many travelers who are sick of winter and head to somewhere tropical. Stores also start gearing up for the summer season by trying out the bathing suits, sarongs and summer dresses, offering big discounts. Take advantage of furniture and house-ware sales in February, as well. I'm not sure why these things go on sale, maybe because people are starting to think of spring cleaning, or maybe new furniture models are coming out. If you know the reason, I would love to hear about it. Regardless, if you're in the market for something like a new dining room table or a new set of dishes, this is the month to buy.
