Can You Be Too Frugal? (1)by Nicole Humphrey | More from this Blogger 26 Oct 2006 10:13 AM
A question came in recently that was quite unusual from my typical frugal living questions. I was asked "Why do you choose to write organizing articles in the frugal living area?". That is a great question actually, and I'd love to answer it. When your life is out of balance, or you are disorganized, being frugal becomes a difficult task. In fact, it's nearly impossible to be frugal when you are so unorganized. When you spend great lengths of time searching for items, or have to replace an item because you cannot find the one you think or know that you have, this wastes a valuable resource - time. As the old saying goes: "Time is money." For instance, if you have 800 plastic grocery bags (or any other item), that's great. You won't have to purchase any for a long time. But what if you are looking for a particular size? You have to sort through your mass of bags to find a larger or smaller bag to hold whatever it is you need to put in the bag. So being organized is an essential part of being frugal. No, it doesn't mean you have to spend more money on organizing tools, as I mentioned in a series of articles last week. But it does mean you need to have some sort of mental inventory of what you have, and a place to keep it in, and preferably some order to how it's kept.
