Day After Christmas Shopping

Will you be doing any post holiday shopping today? There is a good reason to get out there and grab some bargains. The biggest reason is that you will be able to stock up on seasonal items for next year. Today, expect to see Christmas items marked 50 percent off, perhaps even more. Sure, you could wait another week until sales go even higher to 75 percent or 90 percent off, but chances are that there won't be much left to choose among.

You can also pick up merchandise that can be used throughout the year. Grab those red Christmas candies and use them for Valentine's Day. The green ones can be used for St. Patrick's Day. I stock up on brightly colored plastic wrap. My kitchen doesn't care if I wrap up leftovers in red plastic wrap, especially if that wrap cost me one third of the clear stuff.

Dollar stores are a great place to shop after Christmas. You may find large rolls of wrapping paper for 50 cents, photo albums, more candy, decorations, etc.

Stock your gift closet with birthday gifts. If you have an idea what to get your friends and relatives, you'll really make out with substantial savings. You'll find a lot of candles, bath sets and other gift items on deep discounts.

Table linens are a great bargain after Christmas! Pick up white, red, gold, silver, or any other color to use throughout the year in your home. Large tablecloths can even be used as material for your sewing projects.

Stock up on holiday pencils, crayons, small gifts such as yo-yos, coloring books, and other items that can be used for classroom parties.

Head over to the craft store and stock up on crafting supplies. The holiday theme ones will have deep discounts, but scrap-booking materials should also be on sale, as people gear up to spend the long winter saving those holiday memories.

Pick up all of that bargain tinsel to use to line gift baskets. It is a festive and pretty way to give a gift any time of the year.

Happy shopping!
