Egg and Muffin Toaster

Just in case you thought mornings couldn't be any more awesome, now comes the Back to Basics Egg and Muffin Toaster! Apparently, everyone's talking about it. At least, as far as the company Back to Basics is concerned. If the buzz is actually real, then Back to Basics has been able to create quite a stir with an unnecessary and silly gadget that nobody needs.

I get a real kick out of looking through ads to see some of the new-fangled kitchen appliances that companies are coming out with these days. Companies obviously feel that they need to try hard to be on the cutting edge. Mostly, I think they try too hard. Every now and then there really is a great new appliance, like the counter-top grill, that sticks around for decades to come. But mostly, these new appliances are not worth the money they cost--especially not for the very specific jobs they were made to do.

The Egg and Muffin toaster is just another one of these silly gadgets. The product toasts your bread while it cooks an egg and heats up your pre-cooked meat. This makes it oh so easy to make your own breakfast sandwich instead of going through the drive-thru. Kind of a fun idea, I suppose. But is it really worth spending $40 to make your own version of fast food?

The reason they make products like these is not because most people would go out and actually buy one to use for themselves. Instead, they market these products as gifts. Not many people are buying an egg and muffin toaster for themselves, but they may be buying this item to give away. And they probably choose it because they can't think of a gift that a certain someone would actually want.

Maybe you are of a different opinion than I am. If so, set me straight...please.

It's funny that you mention this because I just saw it yesterday at Target. I'd like to know if anyone's tried it. Does it really "do it all" and do it well????
