When it comes to saving money on food, you can never have enough strategies that work to cut your grocery food bill. Whether you need some big cuts or just want to whittle away at your food bill for more savings, you'll be able to put these ideas into practice pretty easily.

I've already posted two blog posts on this topic. If you missed them yesterday, click here More Ways to Cut Your Grocery Food Bill and here Top Ways to Cut Your Grocery Food Bill.

8. Don't waste food. This seems like a simple one, right? Despite this simple rule, most of us waste anywhere between 15 and 25 percent of our food. That could be a minimum of $550 a year! How do you eliminate waste. The most obvious way is with meal planning as mentioned earlier. Don't buy produce that you won't be able to use up in a week (I'll give you two weeks for heartier veggies, such as onions, carrots and potatoes), and make sure to incorporate your leftovers into your weekly plan, or at least freeze them to use as an additional meal later.

9. Opt for inconvenience. I'm being a little tongue in cheek here. So many convenient options are available in food, but you will generally pay more for these options. Pre-cut carrots and celery will cost you more than buying them in a bunch, for example. So will buying individually wrapped items, such as cheese or juice boxes.

10. Beware the speciality foods. Believe it or not, some items that are packaged as gourmet or organic may be the exact same thing as the regular product but for a premium price. The next time you are in the grocery store, look for something such as sesame seeds. Chances are that you will find it in several places, all for several different prices, depending on which section and how it is packaged. Read the labels.
