Save Your Gift Bags

If you are pregnant with your first baby, you’re probably going to be given at least one baby shower by your friends or family. At least in my experience, almost everyone brings their gift in a gift bag instead of wrapping it in paper, which means you are going to go home with dozens of cute baby-themed gift bags. Don’t you dare throw them away, either… Gift bags are one of these things that can be easily reused. The most obvious way to reuse a gift bag is to use it when giving a gift to someone else. I gently … Continue reading

Reusing is a great way to be frugal and green at the same time. But now, one magazine is asking for your ideas, and they are willing to pay $100 for them. Frugal people are so clever at reusing things. Find Your Reuse Inspiration

I love it when I come across ideas for reusing unusual things. For example, this summer, I posted an article about reusing inflatable toys. I think it is so inspiring when these types of reuse ideas come up. It shows how creative people can be with what they have. One of my favorite sources for creative ideas is a personal friend of mine. She is constantly coming up with amazing ideas that repurpose items in very creative ways for her home and garden. She often serves as inspiration to me. This morning, I got an e-mail from her telling me … Continue reading

Things to Do with Tennis Balls

Used tennis balls are like pennies. They were once valued but are usually discarded. Once tennis balls go flat then they can’t really be used for tennis anymore. They can, however, be used for many other things. So whether you have tennis balls of your own or want to rescue some free tennis balls and put them to good use, you should be able to benefit from the following ideas. You can reuse tennis balls: In the dryer to prevent washed pillows from becoming lumpy and to fluffy up towels, comforters and down coats. In your home to move heavy … Continue reading

What to Do with Bread Tabs

A little bit ago, I shared some ideas for reusing odd things around the house that were featured in the Tightwad Gazette. One of those items was the humble little bread tag. You know what I mean? A bread tab is the rectangular piece of plastic that is used to secure commercial loaves of bread in their plastic bags. Bread tabs are plentiful and, of course, they are free with your bread purchase. We already know of two uses for the bread tab. The first is as a stitch counter when knitting or crocheting. The tab has that convenient little … Continue reading

Uses for Return Address Labels

I enjoy supporting Paralyzed Veterans of America and Veterans of Foreign Wars. I’m never able to contribute a whole lot, but for my small offerings, they keep me well supplied with return address labels. I also receive them from The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation(those are gorgeous – they have roses all over them) and from various other charities. These, added to the roll I ordered when we moved, combine to make a huge pile of return address labels that I’ll never get fully used up – especially when I do most of my communicating online. But I’m not going to throw … Continue reading
