Four Frugal Food Gifts for Father's Dayby Traci Anderson | More from this Blogger 27 May 2007 04:17 PM We all know the popular saying, "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach". Not only is the saying 100% accurate, it is also a great reminder of a few frugal ways that you can use food to celebrate the men in your life on Father's Day. 1). Monster Cookies - Men love monster trucks and monster movies, wouldn't it make sense that they would love an over-sized monster cookie too? Grab the kids and make a super-sized version of their dad's favorite cookie recipe. If you want to be extra creative, shape the dough into a heart and frost it with "I love you" when it has cooled. 2). Frozen "Football" Foods - What guy wouldn't love to pop some homemade, jalapeño poppers, cheese sticks or taquitos in the oven right before the big game? How about a few homemade frozen pizzas? You can find recipes for a variety of freezer friendly snack foods by doing a quick Google search. If your husband or dad isn't a sports fan, attach a movie coupon to his frozen gift or "Tivo" a few hours of his favorite television shows. 3). Create a Dessert of the Month Coupon(s) - Let your dad or spouse pick his favorite treat to be handmade by you (or the kids) once each month. 4). Make him a Sundae or Nacho Bar - Imagine how much your dad, or husband would love to come home to a special treat buffet created in his honor. If you are doing a nacho bar, include you might want to include some fresh salsas, guacamole, beans, rice, beef and chicken. If you opt for a sundae bar, try his favorite ice cream along with toppings like crushed M&M's, fudge, peanuts, brownie pieces, or fresh cut fruits.
