Free and Cheap Prescription Drugsby Mary Ann Romans | More from this Blogger 14 May 2009 10:55 AM The cost of prescription drugs has been skyrocketing. Many drug companies are raising the prices of these drugs in order to make up lost revenue due to the recession. But high drug costs are making taking medicine almost impossible for some people. Fortunately, there are a few ways to obtain the free prescription drugs that your doctor wants you to have. Pfizer announced a new program that will provide you with free prescriptions for up to a year, if you have been laid off and no longer have health insurance. There are more than 70 name brand drugs available for free, including Lipitor, Celebrex, Lyrica and Viagra. YHou will need to apply for the program and supply proof that you have been laid off. Also, you must have been prescribed the drug for at least three months. If you do get reinsured, then you will no longer be eligible for the program. It seems that Pfizer wants to spread a bit of good will, and perhaps convince you to stick with the name brand drugs instead of generic drugs, which can often save you money. You can apply to this program by calling 866-706-2400. After July 1st, you can also apply using the Pfizer website at http://www.PfizerHelpfulAnswers.com. This is great news, since the free antibiotics program at Giant food stores ended on March 21st. Another way to get free prescription drugs to to check with your doctor's office or hospital. Many times, physicians will have sample drugs available to give to you, or they may have their own programs in place to help provide you with the prescription drugs that you need. Walmart is still offering its program that provides you with a number of prescription drugs for the cost of only $4.
