Hobbies can be a very fulfilling part of our lives. But let's face it, many hobbies are expensive! Frugal living is a hobby in and of itself. But if you are interested in something else to do with your time, you can most assuredly have a hobby or two that doesn't cost you a thing! Here are a few examples of fulfilling activities that you can do to enrich your life at no cost:

* Exercise: You don't have to join a gym or buy fancy equipment in order to do something good for your body. Try jogging, running, hiking or walking. You can also do some resistance training in the comfort of your own home. Instead of buying weights, use objects around your home to work your muscles: water bottles, canned foods, stairs or stepstools. Turn on some lively music and make up your own workout routine!

* Writing: Let out some of your ideas on paper our on your computer. You may want to consider starting a journal where you write down your thoughts, or experiences that you want to remember. Another idea--write down memorable things that your children do or say so that you always have a record of what they were like when they were young.

* Reading: Check out books from your library and learn something new or entertain yourself with a novel--for free!

* Visit Art Galleries: If you are interested in art, but want to experience it for free, check out your local art galleries. Some cities have art districts or certain areas where you can find a lot of art galleries grouped nearby each other. Art galleries are often owned and run by an artist who can give you an interesting perspective on the art you are viewing. Besides the gas it takes to drive there, viewing the art is free.

I love your ideas! I never have thought of exercise as a hobby but now that you mention it, I think it could be a great one... and a beneficial one too. I used to enjoy running in the evenings and I should get back into that. It made me feel great! If I considered it a hobby then maybe that would help me to get back into the flow.

Also, I think writing is a wonderful hobby and one I'd love to take more time for. You never know... you could be the next Pulitzer Prize winner for your novel or poetry. And, writing poetry is a fun way to express yourself creatively and my husband loves the ones I make for him.
