Freezer Cooking: What I Love Best (1)by Nicole Humphrey | More from this Blogger 06 Apr 2007 10:44 AM
No More Nightly Ties To The Kitchen That was probably my primary reason originally to begin freezer cooking. I wanted to avoid standing in my kitchen, trying to decide what's for dinner, and then having to spend time cooking it. Freezer cooking taught me how to meal plan, and at the same time, saved me the nightly hassle of cooking. It gave me back precious time to spend with my family, as well as delicious meals as if I had spent several hours in the kitchen preparing. No More Budget Breaking Obviously, one of the main reasons people desire to try freezer cooking, is to save money. Buy pre-planning your meals, buying only what you need to prepare those meals, and serving them at home every night, you will save a lot! If you need help learning how to save money using coupons, or watching for sales or specials, be sure and check out the DEALS FORUM here at families.com. In the last year, buy purchasing foods that were on sale, or having specials, I easily saved us over $500 and I bet it was a lot more than that! No More "Wish I Could Help" Mentality One of the things that I have found really cool about freezer cooking, is that it has all but eliminated my train of thinking when someone else needs something. For instance, a woman from my church had a baby, and everyone decided to make one meal for her, so she'd have enough for several weeks. Obviously it was just as simple as pulling something out of my freezer and being able to give it to her. It was easy, I felt good knowing I had helped, and it just meant one night of leftovers or sandwiches for my family and I. Please see Freezer Cooking: What I Love Best (2) for more reasons I love my freezer cooking habit. Additionally, for more of my articles on freezer cooking, please see the freezer cooking section in the frugal living blog or for some excellent recipes to prepare, visit the food blog. I have contributed some exclusively for freezer cooking, however you can use many of the great ones already there!
