Freezer Cooking: What I Love Best (2)

As I explained in the other article, there are many different reasons that I love freezer cooking, but there are a few reasons that I really love it and a few ways it has changed me and my family. I already explained a few, but here are a few more.

Open Door Policy

The other thing I really love about freezer cooking, is that if you have a last minute dinner guest, or you wish to have friends stay for dinner, you have meals all ready to go. Just grab them from the freezer and prepare as directed. You always have meals that are home cooked and delicious waiting for anytime someone has been added unexpectedly to your dinner table. We never have to turn anyone down, and we always remember to have steaks, burgers, hot dogs and chicken breasts wrapped in freezer paper and ready to go whenever we need them too. Always ready for a BBQ! In addition you can always pick up extra pork steaks, pork chops and anything else you wish to throw on the BBQ grill, when they are on sale. This way you can always make something everyone will like.

More Family Time

This is probably the biggest gift of all. I have more time with my family, and we have a consistent nightly dinner hour. The first thing that helps with, is scheduling. The second thing it helps with is consistency. My children know we eat dinner around 5:30 every night, and although they may not be sure what's going on the table, they know it's going to be good and hot and homemade and they will be happy and full at the end. It also allows me extra time to cook with my kids too. I like making things like biscuits from scratch. So throwing something in the oven from the freezer, allows me free time to cook with my kids. We might begin preparing a batch of brownies or cookies to throw in the oven while we eat, or sometimes we get a head start on breakfast for the next morning, or a late night snack if it's a weekend. I love this time with my kids, I love being able to sit down with them during dinner and have no worries, etc. We can honestly say, we have restored our family dinner hour and we enjoy our time together. Lots of laughing, I know almost everything that is going on in their lives, because they have the opportunity to share it, and it's just a nice, happy time.

So you see, freezer cooking might give you back time and money, but it goes deeper than that. I hope you can experience it too.
