December 8th Frugal Living Week in Review: December 1st Through December 7th By the first week in December I am almost ready with everything for the holidays--at least shopping wise. Of course there are always a few things to pick up here and there, hopefully frugally. December 9th Seven Frugal Holiday Activities Don't get caught up in the chaos of holiday spending. It even extends into activities, with Christmas shows, holiday photos with Santa, ice skating at the rink, etc. Instead, vow to spend zero on Christmas activities, here is how. December 10th Downgrading isn't something that most of us like to do. Usually, we forge ahead and upgrade or super size things in our lives. But there is a lot of joy in downgrading. Not only can you remove many money worries from your life, but living more simply may lead to enjoying yourself more. There is often less of a feeling of having to rush around to fit everything in. December 11th Downgrading Your House When You Can't Sell It After yesterday's blog post on downgrading, I learned that there are some of us who would like to downgrade our home but just can't do so. The housing market makes it difficult to sell a home at all, let alone get a decent price for it. But, it is possible to downgrade your house even if you can't sell. These ideas may not work for everyone, but they are real options that can be used if needed. Tips for Driving in the Snow, Frugally With the news about Snow in New Orleans, it reminds me that being prepared for the snow is always a good thing. Many people skip preparing to drive in snowy weather. Special tires can be expensive, for example. But inevitably, you may find yourself out in the snow somewhere and stuck. Maybe you were still at work when the snow started to fall, or you had a doctor's appointment or you needed to run out for milk. Whatever the case, take a look at the following tips to help you drive in the snow and do so frugally. December 12th 12 Ways Staying Home Saves Money If you can manage a day at home instead of out and about you will save money. There is nothing really special that you need to do, but the savings will rack up. The more staying home days you can manage in a month, the more you will save. December 14th If your Christmas tree is looking a little bit bare, you can fill it quickly with some home made ornaments. Home made ornaments are generally very frugal, especially if you use inexpensive materials that you already have at home.
