It is not a very typical occurrence, to come across or find a coupon for a sports related item, or other outdoor related equipment. Coupons are not often offered on these types of items.

However, if you know what to watch for, and when to shop, you will save yourself a lot. With a lot of research and verification, in addition to working with a Human Resources Manager of a large department store corporation, hopefully this information will help you save bundles and get the most for your hard earned dollars.

Periodically, department stores and discount chains have sales on various items, several times a year. So familiarizing yourself with the store you are shopping at, and the item you are looking for, might enable you to find the equipment or item for less than you ever expected. Knowing when to shop is key.

Sports Wear

Sports Wear is often on sale seasonally. For Winter sportswear discounts, shop during January and February. May and July will bring you awesome deals on Spring and Summer Sportswear.

Regular Sports Equipment

These items are seasonal. For instance, you will find football items on sale, after the football season is over. Same for baseball, soccer and various other sports. July seems to be the magic month for most sports equipment to find its lowest prices.

Skaters

For skates of any kind, Roller Skates, In-line Skates, Ice Skates and yes, even skateboards, shopping during January, is a great time to find these items on sale. They often wait until after the Christmas rush to place these items on discount and shopping in January will prove just that.

Fishing

From bait to tackle boxes, and poles, rods and everything in between can be found at its best prices in the month of October. This is because it is "after prime season" to quote my manager friend.

Skiing

Ski Equipment discounts are found during the month of March. This does not just include the poles and other accessories, but also includes Winter Ski apparel. Water skiing discounts are found during September and October.

Camping

One of my favorite past times, camping is fun for the whole family. But you have to wait until the end of the season to get the best deals. Shop in August for tents, sleeping bags, cooking equipment and other supplies for that rugged activity.

Bicycles

Probably the most frequently discounted items, are bicycles. You can find these on sale several times a year. Be sure and shop around to find the best prices, because different stores, have extremely different prices, on their items. For the best discounts shop during January, February, September, October and November. Just in time to give a shiny new bike for Christmas!
