There is no need to spend hundreds of dollars for designer clothing or be stuck with less expensive brands. You can have ritzy stuff on a frugal budget. Here is how. Have you heard of upscale consignment shops? They pop up now an again. These shops sell used clothing that meet a certain upscale standard. Generally, only clothing that is couture or comes from a known designer is consigned at the shop. The quality just can't be beat at these stores. Many time people buy expensive designer clothing and then reuse to wear it the following season because it came out the year before. Many times this clothing has been worn only a handful of times or not at all. You won't find any $2 sweaters, and the prices will be higher than your average thrift shop, but you'll still save 90 percent or more off of the original prices. Another place to get high-end upscale clothing on a frugal budget is to rent it! We may be used to renting tuxedos, but did you know that you can rent clothing for women as well? There is everything available from designer formal dresses, bridal gowns, prom dresses and even designer suits for a special work presentation. If you have a special occasion, consider showing up in a designer outfit for less than the cost of buying average semi-formal wear. And as an added bonus, you won't have to worry about cleaning the garment, as that is included in the rental service. Now here is a little known secret for frugal upscale clothing. It is at your neighborhood dry cleaners. Most dry cleaners have a rack to sell clothing that has been left at the cleaners for more than 60 days. Usually the price of the garment is just the cost of the cleaning itself. So, you can get a nice suit for $5, a sweater for $3, etc. And since most of the clothing that requires dry cleaning is more upscale than not, you know that you'll find some good quality items.
