Disney Movies on Home Release This Spring

Disney fans take note: the company has released the list of movies due out on home release this spring.  It’s a combination of films out of the vault, first time home releases, and TV on DVD.  First up, coming out last week, is “Peter Pan.”  In honor of the film’s 60th anniversary, this is Disney’s first Diamond Edition and Blu-Ray release of the classic.  Another famous Peter also hit the shelves this week: Peter Parker, in “Ultimate Spider-Man: Avenging Spider-Man.”  It’s one of the Marvel cartoons Disney’s currently producing. This week, in anticipation of its prequel’s June release, “Monster’s Inc.” … Continue reading

Wreck-It Ralph Brings Gaming to the Movies

How have I not heard of this before now? Disney has a new animated movie coming out November 2, called “Wreck It Ralph.” I’d seen that title before in a list of upcoming movies, and I knew it had something to do with an arcade, but I didn’t know that 1) it was coming out so soon and 2) that it sounded so awesome. I have to say I’ve been a little hesitant about any animated film coming out of Disney lately that isn’t either a fairy tale film or from Pixar. I love “Emperor’s New Groove” and “Lilo & … Continue reading

Going To The Movies

Tomorrow Hailey and I will come full circle. With our movie going that is. The very first movie I took her to see when she was nineteen months old was The Lion King. That was her favorite movie for several years, she would watch it over and over and over until I thought I would lose my mind. I remember that day well, Hailey had been recently potty trained and as hard as I tried to talk her into a pull up for the movie the more determined she was not to wear one. I thought it was a disaster … Continue reading

Get a Coupon for Free Food at the Movies

Going to see a movie, in an actual movie theater, can be expensive. You might be paying for parking, depending on if the theater has it’s own parking lot of if it lacks one. The price of movie tickets, even during an afternoon matinee, seems to go up every year. If you would like to have something to eat or drink while you watch the movie, well, that’s going to cost you some money as well. Unless, of course, you print out a coupon from the theater, and bring it with you. For a lot of people, watching a movie … Continue reading

“Letters to Juliet” | Movies On Demand

Sometimes all you want to do is plop down on the couch after the kids go to bed and watch a movie. Too bad you just mailed your Netflix DVD back this morning and there’s nothing interesting in the instant cue. All of your favorite shows are reruns and the only movie showing on TV tonight is some drama on the woman’s network about a girl who is seeking revenge against her mother in law and you’re pretty sure you can guess the ending. You could get in the car and drive to one of those boxes that give you … Continue reading

Five Ways to Save Money at the Movies

One of the things that I associate with summer is going to the movies. And while the expense of it can add up when you have five people in your family, it is still nice to be able to go out to the movies once or twice. Because the cost of going to the movies could normally equal two or three new DVD movies (or eight or nine used DVD movies), I have learned how to save most of this cost in the following ways. Skip the snacks Do you really need to snack during the movie? Unless you are … Continue reading

Starry Nights, Spooky Blog Tours, and Dachshunds: An Interview with Author Christine Verstraete

This next interviewee’s name may look familiar to you since I’ve interviewed Christine Verstraete before. Last time it was about her miniature doll hobby and the dogs she often includes in her displays. This time around I asked if she’d be interested in talking about Petey, the dachshund who stars in her new book, Searching For A Starry Night, A Miniature Art Mystery. She again graciously agreed, and added something fun just in time for Halloween: details on her spooky blog tour and how you can enter to win a set of Halloween minis or a copy of her e-book, … Continue reading
