Goodwill Bargain Store: Get More Discountsby Mary Ann Romans | More from this Blogger 20 Jan 2009 05:58 AM
Goodwill bargain stores or Goodwill outlet stores (I've seen them called both) offer bottom of the line discounts on thrift merchandise. You might remember that I've talked about how at Goodwill stores, merchandise rotates through the floor at these stores, and clothing gets tagged with different colors that indicate how long it has been in the store. At the end of its stay, the store takes 50% off of the price of all of the clothing for that color. At the end of that sale, anything that doesn't sell gets sent to the bargain or outlet store. The store itself isn't pretty. It has a definite warehouse feel, but there was enough space not to make it feel crowded. You really have to hunt for your bargains, since clothes are thrown randomly into bins, and toys are piled high into refrigerator boxes, making them hard to reach. However, if you are excited by or willing to put up by the hunt, there are some amazing deals. All bin clothing is only 75 cents a piece. I didn't have much time to hunt, since my whole family was with me, but in the short time I had, I found a set of thick snow bibs for my son, lined merino wool pants from Lord & Taylor, for myself, several shirts plus a pair of new dockers for my husband and more clothes for my other two kids. I regretted that I didn't have more time to browse. Beside clothes and toys, there were other items available, from books to bread makers. I spotted a bin with fleece character blankets that I really wanted to browse. All blankets were $1. If you get a chance to come across a Goodwill bargain store or Goodwill outlet store, I highly suggest that you check it out. Tashi (1013) 21 Jan 2009 11:27 AM:-) Duh, ME. Of course -- I should Google it. I'll let you know what I find (or don't find) out.
