While I hope that you can get all of the frugal living advice that you need right here, it is sometimes nice to be able to curl up with a good book. I often reread frugal living books, as well as my own blogs when I need a little boost or reminder to hunker down and save some money. But I know all the little girls in their pretty spring dresses will be covered up by their winter coats for church tomorrow. It’s not the first Easter we’ve had snow. In our sixteen years here we’ve made more than one snow bunny instead of snowman. We discovered that the … Continue reading

Unexpected References to Adoption in Children’s Books: Little House on the Prairie

It must be the phenomenon that once something is close to you, you see it everywhere. My daughters and I find adoption issues cropping up everywhere, even in books and shows that aren’t supposed to be about adoption at all. The girls and I have been reading all of Laura Ingalls’ Wilder’s books –nine books written by Laura Ingalls Wilder about her life from age five through the first years of her marriage–plus a book written from Laura’s mother’s point of view, another from her daughter’s point of view, and even one from the viewpoint of “poor little rich girl”, … Continue reading

Days like those are hard to find to scrapbook, because you want to enjoy the weather, but you can always do it at night or early in the morning. Remember to make time for it, while still enjoying the beautiful weather. Here is what has been … Continue reading
