Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! No doubt that you are looking forward to a special day. But with the cost of everything these days, how can you afford the wedding of your dreams? It is all about priorities and money saving tips.

If you missed the first post in this series, you can click here: How to Save Money on Your Wedding. Now let us continue.

Do it Yourself

There are many areas of a wedding that can be done yourself with fabulous, professional-looking results. Take the invitations, for example, are a good do it yourself project. You can buy all sorts of pretty card stock and print them yourself. Add an extra touch to the invitation to make it special, such as a tiny silk flower or a bit of ribbon.

Depending on the time of year, you can save a lot of money on flowers for your reception if you grow them yourself. Wildflowers are easy to grow and can be very pretty. Having a winter wedding? Make your own centerpieces using glass containers, cranberries and candles.

Network

You may be surprised at the wedding discounts that may come your way if you network well. Everyone knows a friend or a friend of a friend who is a professional photographer, caterer, videographer, florist, etc. Tell everyone you know that you are looking for a discount on wedding services, and you may find more bargains than you can use. A tip here is to make sure than you get references and see examples of the providers work, as you would with any wedding service, so you know the person is a good fit for your wedding.

Make a good guest list

Do you really need to invite your third cousin once removed when you haven't seen her since you were ten? Do all of your co-workers need to be invited? Concentrate on a guest list that includes the people that you cherish in your day to day life. Beside the huge cost savings, you'll have more time to spend with the people who are really important to you.
