Since it is a task that has to be done over and over again, it makes sense to take a look at how you do your laundry in order to save a bit in your budget. Adopting a new money saving practice will continue to save you money each time you do a load. Let's say you save only 46 cents on a single load with minimum effort. If you do ten loads a week, as I usually do, that is enough for a magazine, a fancy coffee, two school lunches, a couple of outfits at a garage sale, etc. Personally, I'd go for the outfits since they have the most value, although of course the outfits will have to be added to the laundry. Here is a round up of some different ways that you can easily save on your laundry. practice more than one, and chances are that at the end of the year, you'll be feeling a bit more financially comfortable.

It works just as well as the fabric softener but costs far less. It is especially effective at keeping towels super absorbent, as it strips off residue that prevents the towels from absorbing water as they get older. Mary Ann Romans (26886) 22 Oct 2008 02:11 PMYou should never use fabric softener on towels. Also, fabric softener can hasten your dryer's demise, according to some experts. Thanks St.Bridgit Valorie Delp (49340) 23 Oct 2008 03:39 AMGasp! But I love my Downy smelling clothes! Sorry. . .I'll just have to hasten my dryer's demise and wear out my towels a tad faster. ;-) Mary Ann Romans (26886) 23 Oct 2008 11:58 AMOne day, you're towels will rise against you. A quick test is to take out your dryer's filter and see if you can run water through it. If not then clean the filter throughly of the fabric softener build up. Or, just hang your clothes ;) thequeenofthecastle (413) 01 Nov 2008 12:21 PMI have a friend who introduced me to linen spray. I too adore the smell of fabric softener, but at some of the discount stores you can find great prices on Linen spray (or substitute inexpensive body spray). I spray it on my sheets when I make the bed and I spray it on my towels and curtains and shower curtains. All the great smell and it stays much longer than room sprays because it's in the fabric. Mary Ann Romans (26886) 02 Nov 2008 05:42 AMYes, I love linen spray. I use to use it all of the time until they discontinued my favorite one. It really freshens up a room.
