How to Save on Summer Tickets

tickets After I published my posts on How to Save Money at the Circus, a couple of people sent me messages asking if I had any tips for saving money on tickets at other summer attractions, such as amusement parks and summer concerts. Well, there is practically nothing that couldn't benefit from a clever application of frugal strategies.

When you are looking to purchase tickets for a big commercial event or location, such as an amusement park, renaissance faire, the zoo, summer music concert or even the movie theater, you'll want to explore all sorts of ways to purchase tickets. Most people head right to the box office or the ticket center, but you won't usually get a discount that way.

Some places to look for coupons or discounts when purchasing tickets include your local grocery store, your local town hall or community center, your local library and the human resources department of your workplace. Many times these areas are authorized to sell tickets at a discount.

Another way to save money on tickets to to buy a block of them for a group discount. Get a bunch of your friends together and organize a trip to the event. You can save quite a bit off of the price of your tickets by bringing an entire group.

Consider purchasing season tickets to an amusement park or event. Add up the regular cost of your tickets and see what a family or individual pass would cost. Sometimes you don't even have to purchase a pass for every member of your family or group. This is because many memberships come with extra free tickets or extra passes that can be used for guests. One generous membership that I know of allows up to four free guests each time the member enters.

Check for discount days and free admission. Often weekday entrances are less expensive than weekday entrances. The same goes for the opening or closing weekends at some of these venues. There many me ladies days, kids days or other special events where certain people can get in for free.
