Inexpensive Bathroom Cleaners and Toolsby Mary Ann Romans | More from this Blogger 06 Apr 2009 05:30 AM How can you get your bathroom clean without spending a fortune on harsh chemicals that don't do much anyway? Here are my best picks for bathroom cleaners, based on value and effectiveness. Comet Comet cleanser has been around since, well, I don't know when. But I do remember my mother using it all of the time. A can of this cleanser is less than a dollar. It contains a little but of bleach and is great for cleaning up stains on tile, including water stains and mildew. Toothbrush An old toothbrush is my favorite tool for bathroom cleaning. You can use it to get the grout in between towels and to clean around faucets or any other hard to reach places. Best of all it is free. Vinegar Yes, I really do use vinegar. It works wonderfully on glass shower doors. For some reason, a good coat of vinegar (use it in a spray bottle with just a little water) will dissolve hard water stains and soap scum pretty well. Windex Windex is another cleaner that has been around for a while and is inexpensive. I usually buy a large refill bottle to cut costs even more. Not only is Windex great for bathroom mirrors, but I use it asa daily cleaner to touch up the bathroom, especially the sink. It does a great job putting a shine on everything. Bleach Good old Clorox bleach can work wonders when other cleaners fail. It is a great product to kill germs in the toilet bowl. Dilute it and use it to sanitize pretty much any non-porous surface in your bathroom. If you have a septic tank, though, you'll want to limit the amount of bleach that goes into it at any one time, because it may also kill the bacteria in the tank that breaks down the waste products.
