Freshen Your Home for Spring

Have you been to Target this week? The discount retailer is having a huge sale on plastic storage totes, shelving units and a slew of other items to help you organize, as you tackle your spring cleaning projects. In addition to the storage-related items, Target is offering deep discounts on slipcovers for sofas, loveseats and chairs. At first I wondered how slipcovers tied into spring cleaning, but then I realized that if you have furniture with dark upholstery, adding a slipcover with a soft floral pattern or solid pastel could easily freshen up the look of your living room. If … Continue reading

Easy Wall Murals

About nine years ago, when my twins were still babies and still took an afternoon nap, I decided to paint a mural in our basement playroom. It’s a long, skinny room with lots of wall space. A friend of mine called it my bowling alley. I had Disney clipart software that designed cards and banners. I took one of the pictures of Pooh Bear and his friends and printed it out. Using a projector, I traced the outlines with pencil directly onto the wall. I did this in about twenty minute increments during nap time. The hardest part of the … Continue reading

Gloves, Hats, and Necklaces – Craft Ideas for Tea Parties

What’s a tea party without gloves? I have several ideas for decorating gloves, depending on the age group of your guests and how many adult helpers you have. If you are lucky you can sometimes find old dress gloves at thrift stores and garage sales.
