It's Date Night!

Date night gives couples something to look forward to, a chance to spend some time together and enjoy each other's company without being weighed down by the demands of life. It's a great way to reconnect and to simply have fun.

If you're trying to be careful with money, or if you just don't have very much money at the moment, planning a great date night can be a challenge. Get creative and try some of these tips for inspiration.

Rent a Great Movie

Is there a movie that the two of you watched together in the past? Maybe you saw a movie on your first date, which has always been special to you. Rent it and enjoy reigniting those special feelings. If there isn't a special movie that you'd like to see, choose something romantic or funny that you will both enjoy. Many video shops rent movies very cheaply if they are not new releases, so you can rent more than one. Even a new release should only cost 3-4 dollars, which makes for a very affordable date.

Give Each Other a Massage

You can experiment with different massage techniques and help each other relax. You can also find different sensual massage techniques online or in books (since this is a family site, I'm not linking to any of those pages). You can pick up massage books at the library too. Massage is even more enjoyable when there is less friction between the hand and the skin, and there are many different massage oils to choose from. Some of these can be expensive, but you can also substitute baby oil, which costs very little. You can also use powder or even cornstarch instead of oils.

Play Games

Play board games, play dominoes, or play cards.

Play Poker

Clean out your pockets or change purse and have fun playing a few games of penny ante poker. If you win, put your poker winnings into a jar and save the change each time until you have enough to surprise your spouse with a gift or a special outing for date night.
