They are what is left after you use a roll of paper towels, a roll of toilet paper or a roll of gift wrap. These tubes have so many uses around the house, so there is no need to toss them away. Now here are some more things to do with cardboard tubes. Remember, there is no need to purchase something when you already have something on hand that will do the job! Cardboard tubes are great at keeping your cords and wires tangled free and out of the way. I've seen expensive systems that you can buy at the home improvement stores and through infomercials that claim to organize your wires. But, you have a great solution with your cardboard tubes. Just fold your cords (fan fold them)and pass them through a cardboard tube before plugging them in. Toilet paper tubes or paper towel tubs that are cut in half work the best for this project. Use the paper towel tubes as boot trees. They will keep the tops of your long boots from floppy over. This will prevent wrinkles and mis-shaping in your boots. We had to do this recently. We needed to replace a fluorescent tube but weren't sure which size to get. So, we packed up the old one in a cardboard tube, and that allowed us to safely get it to the store where we could compare it to the fluorescent tubes in the store.
