Flatten soda cans and turn them into bats by painting the cans and adding cardboard wings. In fact, there are so many different animal crafts that you can make with crushed cans with a little bit of paint and a little bit of imagination.

Make a beer can roof. This is a great idea for the truly frugal. Collect beer and soda cans from friends and neighbors. See the instructions for the roof right here: Beer Can Roof

Punch drainage holes in the cans, add rocks and soil, and use them to grow herbs

Turn them into noisemakers. Add something noisy such as beans or pecan shells and tape two cans together.

Make a money box by adding a plastic lid with a slit.

Make tin can flowers. You can find the idea for this craft here: Tin Can Flowers

Protect plants from slugs. Cut out both the top and bottom of the can and place it over the stem of a plant to prevent the slugs from reaching it.

Turn the cans into storage containers of all types, from holding pencils to holding pennies.

Create a valuables safe. Open the can from the bottom. After it is clean and empty, make a plus of styrofoam. You can add small valuables to the can and then hide it in plain sight in your cupboard.

Bake cakes and quick breads in them. This is a nice idea for bake sales, gifts for friends and quick take-away snacks.

Fill the cans with cement and use them as hand weights for exercise.
