More Ways a Closet Clean Out Can Save You Money

Have you gotten enough motivation to go and clean out your closet? In my last post, I shared some ways that showed how doing a closet clean out can save you some money. But if that wasn't enough to get you to tackle this task, then let me offer some more ways to save. All you need is a little time and the desire to save or earn some money.

Find new combinations

You may or may not have had other clothing in mind when you made a new purchase. For example, you might have bought a shirt that you knew would work well with a pair of pants that you already owned. As we continue to acquire clothing pieces, we might not be aware of how some items we have go with other items. These new combinations can create new looks and essentially stretch your wardrobe without having to buy a single new thing!

Make a profit

Inevitably, you will come across items in your closet that you just don't need or want any longer. Put these items to work for you. Find a local consignment shop and place them there. You can make some good cash that way. Another idea is to sell those clothing and accessory items on Craigslist or Ebay. Use the extra money to buy a closet organizer system or to fill in gaps in your current wardrobe. Make sure to do any needed repairs and to check the items for wear or stains before trying to sell them.

Swap for new

Another use for those items that you just don't want or need is to put them to good use in a clothing swap. Have a bunch of your friends over for a fun time. Tell them to bring their own unwanted items. Serve some refreshments and then try on clothing. Bring home what you like. You should be able to get a few great new pieces and bless others with your old items. To liven it up, hold a contest for the brightest item, the oldest item, the smallest item, etc.
