In my previous post, listed four top ways to cut your grocery food bill. But did you know that there are even more ways to do this. Practice all of the strategies, and you will really slash your bill. here are some more ways to save money on groceries.

5. Practice meal planning. I have to admit that I am not the greatest meal planner in the world, but I do make some meal planning concession. By planning out your meals, you can take advantage of groceries that cost less for that particular week. I'll give you a recent example. This week, I am making a lasagna, a meat loaf, tacos and a pizza for meals, since ground turkey and cheese are on good sales.

6. Cook from scratch. So many people are afraid of cooking from scratch, but basic meal usually don't take to long to prepare or require much skill. You'll get better nutrition and more food for the money when you cook from scratch instead of buying prepared meals or mixes. Pancake mix for example, only saves you about two steps, yet you can make your own pancakes from scratch for about a quarter of the cost of the mix. With frozen meals, you'll save even more.

7. Combine sales with coupons. When you take two great strategies for saving money at the grocery store and then combine them, you'll save the maximum amount. Here is a recent example. On saturday, Kashi cereal was on sale for only $1.99. I used a $1 off coupon and got the cereal for only $.99 box! Since this cereal usually sells for almost $3, I spent only a third of the regular cost.

Well, that is three more tips, but guess what? Yes, I have more. We need to get those bills down as low as they can go. So check back again for my next post!

Great tips Mary Ann. Here is a tool that people can use to help save recipes from anywhere on the web and then create meal plans and shopping lists from them:
