Outgrown Sales Report

yard sale Do you like going to outgrown sales? Also called clothing turnabouts, they are a great way to provide clothes and toys for your children for very little money. Today I spent about $50 for three overlarge bags of clothing for my three children. Each item was between 50 cents and $2.

If you have never been to an outgrown clothing sale, you might feel a bit overwhelmed at first. The largest ones have clothing and toys everywhere to sort through, although usually they are separated in different room. Clothing is usually placed by gender and size, and they all have price tags on them. It is helpful to have a bag with you that you can use to gather your picks.

Today, it seemed, everyone in my area was having an outgrown sale. We decided on at least two that we wanted to attend. As the day went on, we continued to find out about more and more of these sales. We stuck with our original plan and figured that we would hit other sales if we had time and energy.

One thing that took us by surprise was how many people were attending the sales! It seemed as though the entire town was out trying to get some bargains. This means that the selection was lower than I had experienced, yet. There were still plenty of items available for us.

Toys seemed to have been cleaned out first. We still did well at that first sale, since we were mainly interested in clothing. By the time we got to the second sale, we peeked in and decided to leave. The line to check out wrapped back and forth, and there was an hour wait for it. People were grabbing things it, seems, just to grab them, and that wasn't the environment that we wanted for our family, no matter what bargains might be available. People were grabbing big piles of a size and then retreating into corners to sort through them privately. It was the craziest thing I had seen.

Have you been through an outgrown sale lately?
