And this does not even include special services, such as coloring. Cut this bill down to only $60 a year and use that extra $300 to pay down debt. Here are some different ways that will help you save money on hair styles. Choose a style that will grow out well. This way you can lengthen the time between your visits. Instead of going every four or six weeks for a cut, you'll be able to double or triple the time between visits. A short stylized cut, for example, will take much more maintenance than will a longer more basic style. If you want some color to your hair, consider adding highlights instead of changing your overall color. highlights will last longer and won't need touch ups as often. Consider the bargain hair salons Believe it or not, some of the more inexpensive salons do just as good or even better than more expensive ones. My kids get their best hair cuts from a lady who works in an inexpensive salon. Ask around for references. Whenever you see hair that you admire, ask the person where she got the cut. Barter with your hairdresser In most salons, the hairdresser works independently, paying a fee for the the use the chair and equipment. Because of this, you can often barter with individual hairstylists for goods or services. Even with an independently owned salon, there are ways to barter with the salon owner. What do you have in return? Can you create advertising flyers? Could you clean a home or the salon? Do you make jewelry, soaps or other goods that they could sell for a profit? Could you provide a home made lunch one day in exchange for a cut? Ask the hairdresser what she or he could use for a barter. You may be able to provide it.
