Six Reasons to Grocery Shop in the Morning 3by Mary Ann Romans | More from this Blogger 22 Jul 2008 02:32 PM
Now, here are the last two reasons why you can positively affect your grocery bill by shopping early. 5. Have you checked out your grocery store's clearance section, yet? What, you have never seen it? That might be because the clearance items are all gone by the afternoon., or at least so heavily raided that you don't recognize it. Just like the deals on bread and meat, the managers like to do their markdowns on clearance items in the early morning when the store is less crowded. You'll find everything from dented but sealed boxes of name brand cereal to new and discontinued products that needed to be removed because of shelf space. The best selection of items can be had in the am. I found pasta meal kits that even had their own peel off coupons attached to the boxes, making them absolutely free to purchase. And yes, I did stock up. 6. When you shop early, you are less likely to be tempted by bad deals. All of the other contributing factors, such as a crowded store, being tired, taking longer to shop, missing the mark downs etc can be frustrating. As such, you may just wind up tempted to grab anything off of the shelf that might feed your family. Plus, if your energy level is waning, and you just had to fight through the crowd, you might feel the need for snacks and other treats. I find that the temptation to throw my list out the window is higher when I don't shop early, and this reflects the bill at the end of the checkout. Well, thanks for coming along with me on this series. I would love to hear your favorite ways of reducing your grocery bill! By doing that, stuff won't end up in the trash, or given away. Community Tags food cost, frugal, grocery shopping, save money, thrifty Discuss this article
