Go online Before you invest in any of the other methods of seeing the top shows, first go online. Many hit shows offer a free season premier episode or season finale episode in order to entice you to order the cable or buy the DVD. Also, there are plenty of show clips on YouTube that will give you a taste for the show, to see if you want to add it to your must watch list. Ask for free trial If you do have cable (but not premium cable), ask your provider if you could have a free trial of some of the premium channels. The cable companies are usually happy to do this, because it may make a sale. Most companies will start to charge you after the free trial, so make sure that you cancel the premium shows before that date. Free on demand If you have digital on demand service, check out premium shows there. Some cable companies will give you limited time access to the first one or two seasons of the show in the hopes that you will order premium channels to see the next season. Check to see what is available. Library This is may favorite place to catch up on premium shows. Depending on the library, taking out DVDs may be free. Go online to reserve or hold your favorites and pick them up when they become available. Sets may be split into separate disks, or they may come together, depending on the length and the library.
