Twitter Retail Therapy

I just read a Twitter post that said, "Gonna start Tweeting all my purchases - It'll keep me frugal & accountable." I must admit that the entry caught me off guard. I realize people tweet obsessively telling every little thing they do and think, but now to have to read everything they buy... I don't think so. If I see their grocery list on twitter I will unsubscribe so fast I may strain my finger.

I realize I am being a bit of a twitter scrooge, but I fear adding everyday grocery and clothing items to your tweet habit would be overwhelming to your readers.

Instead of tweeting every single purchase, perhaps they could start a blog and just tweet a weekly reminder that the blog exists. I could definitely live with that. Overall, the concept behind this Twitter retail therapy is solid. In the same way that dieters write about what they eat and their progress successfully, a person could also shame themselves into staying in line for the fear of exposing their bad habits.

Of course you would have to be compulsively honest to blog or tweet honestly about your compulsive need to compulsively shop so that you can change your habits and the state of your wallet.
