There is no doubt that volunteering is a great thing to do. Think of all of the people that you help when you volunteer! That is the main reason to do it. But, volunteering has its frugal benefits, too. Many times there are perks that go with the volunteering job that save you money.

Do you like books? Volunteer at a library. Some of the perks as a library volunteer may include the waiving of late fees, being first on the list to check out new books and an influence over which new books to library orders.

Volunteering at a hospital has its perks, too. Many times there is a sports club, a fitness center or a pool to which hospital employees are given access. Volunteers are offered this same perk, too.

Are you a thrift store junkie? Volunteer for a charity-run thrift store and you'll be sure to get some frugal benefits. beside a discount on the merchandise, you'll be able to spot the treasures first hand and purchase them before anyone else does.

Volunteer in a museum or state park for free admission, free guest passes and even free educational programs. Volunteers at a local non-profit attraction near me also get free concert and theater tickets.

And if you really want some theater, well volunteer in one. There are plenty of jobs that need to be done at small community theaters. Not only will you get to watch the show, but you'll probably get some free guest passes for friends and family, too. One friend of mine has the added perk of being able to rummage through the prop area. She has brought home everything from furniture to clothing that the theater no longer needed.

What volunteer opportunities do you have in your area? Can you imagine any frugal perks that they might provide?
