What to Bring to A Yard Saleby Mary Ann Romans | More from this Blogger 25 May 2007 04:14 AM Are you a serious yard sale person? I'm asked some hard core yard sale-ing friends (they yard sale for a living, selling the items on ebay and through consignment shops) for the best tips on what to bring to a yard sale. If you are prepared, you are sure to get the best bargains. Being prepared for shopping at a yard sale (or church sale, for that matter) will allow you to shop longer and more efficiently. You will also be ready to take advantage of items that you might not otherwise be able to purchase. Here is a list of items to take with you, if you want to do some professional level yard sale shopping. Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. You want to keep cool and comfortable. There is nothing worse that having to leave a good sale because your skin is starting to burn. A smaller cooler with water or other drinks that you can keep in the car. It is guaranteed that you will get thirsty at some point. Some large yard sales take advantage of that fact and sell bottled water with a high markup. Having drinks on hand is especially essential if you have kids with you. And don't forget the snacks, as well. Comfy shoes are important to have on your feet. This may seem pretty obvious, but I can't tell you the number of times I have seen people shopping blocks of yard sales in fancy heeled shoes. Sandals and flip flops are also a no-no. Many times, the grass at yard sales is still wet with dew. Scrunch up a couple of plastic grocery bags and stick them in a pocket or purse. This way, it is easy to collect your treasures. This is an especially nice strategy when shopping at a church sale. You won't have to waste time looking around for a bag or box to store everything in, or struggle with carrying stuff in your arms.
